Auguste Rodin (1840–1917) was one of the art world’s original bad boys. His masterful bronze and marble figures made him one of the most famous and controversial artists of the 19th century. He left behind the traditional realms of mythology and allegory to celebrate individual character. Both revered and reviled for his innovative departures from the conventional poses and gestures, he often left his achingly beautiful figures unfinished. The powerful sense of incompletion in his work became a hallmark of the abstract sculptural forms of the 20th century.
This year marks an especially significant point in Rodin’s legacy – that of the 100th anniversary of his death. To honour this larger-than-life artist we have brought his handwriting back to our Paperblanks collection. Featuring a note originally offered as our Rodin, Letter to Rilke journal, this Special Edition design also showcases his iconic statue The Thinker on the back cover.
If the version with lined pages is out of stock then unlined will be provided instead (and vice versa).
