To inspire the artist, this unique journal features an excerpt of an original letter by Auguste Rodin to German poet, Rainer Maria Rilke, and provides a glimpse into the mind of one of the world's best known sculptors. Rilke moved to Paris and became deeply involved in the sculpture of Rodin. For a time he acted as Rodin's artistic assistant, eventually writing a long essay on Rodin and his work. Rodin taught him the value of objective observation, which effected the transformation of Rilke's poetic style.
